He brings with him the experience of being a player at Alabama on three different Sweet Sixteen teams, and as an assistant coach he won a national title at UCLA. As a head coach, Gottfried found success at Murray State before heading back to Alabama, where he guided the Crimson Tide to an Elite Eight appearance in 2004 and won two conference titles in the tough SEC. Now he takes over a NC State Wolfpack roster that went a disappointing 15-16 last season, but with a fresh recruiting class and a fresh outlook, this team could contend in the ACC.
