Capacity: 69,500
One of the NFL’s newest and most expensive stadiums is Reliant Stadium, which opened in 2002 and cost $325 million to build. With an astounding 187 luxury suites and 44,000 of its 69,500 seats located along the sidelines, Reliant Stadium is a great place to watch quarterback David Carr and the Houston Texans.
The stadium’s retractable roof (the first in the NFL), natural grass and numerous fan-friendly amenities obviously caught the attention of the NFL and the league brought Super Bowl XXXVIII to Houston as 71,525 fans watched Tom Brady and the New England Patriots defeat the Carolina Panthers 32-29. Decided on an Adam Vinatieri field goal with four seconds left, the 2004 Super Bowl earned rave reviews for the game on the field as well as the performance of Reliant Stadium and the halftime show featuring Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Toby Keith, and of course Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction. Texans officials are already making a bid to host Super Bowl XLIII in 2009. You can’t get tickets for that yet, but Gotickets has your Super Bowl tickets for this year.
The Houston Bowl is also played at Reliant Stadium. Pitting the Big 12 Conference against the Southeastern Conference, the Houston Bowl was started in 2000 and is televised by ESPN. If you need Houston Bowl tickets, you need Gotickets.
