The College Football Playoff has announced its first host stadium, and Arlington, Texas has won yet again! AT&T Stadium will see the two best teams in college football battle it out on January 12, 2015 for the National Championship!

AT&T Stadium is a new domed stadium with a retractable-roof in Arlington, Texas, for the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys. It replaced the open-air Texas Stadium, which opened in 1971, as the Cowboys’ home. It was completed in May ‘09 and seats over 100,000 fans.

AT&T Stadium is the largest domed stadium in the world. AT&T Stadium also includes a retractable roof, glass doors allowing each end zone to be opened, and a center-hung video display board. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said the screen is the largest high-definition television screen in the world. The 160 foot by 72 foot, 11,520 square foot scoreboard replaces the 8,736 square foot screen that opened in ‘09 at the renovated Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri as the world’s largest.

The Cowboys have struggled significantly since their heyday of the 90’s. Players like Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin are long gone. They’ve been replaced with the likes of Tony Romo, Felix Jones, and Dez Bryant. The Cowboys have seen their fair share of coaches since the departure of legends like Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, and Bill Parcells. Their current head coach, Jason Garrett, was the back-up to Troy Aikman throughout the team’s championship runs throughout the 1990’s. He remains on the hot seat seemingly every season, which is no surprise given the flamboyant style of Dallas’ owner, Jerry Jones.

AT&T Stadium is a modern marvel both inside and out. Fans from around the country flock to Arlington, Texas to enjoy the amenities that AT&T Stadium has to offer. The Dallas fan base is hopeful that their team can return to the playoffs this season and finally make a deep run in the playoffs behind the play of their highly scrutinized quarterback Tony Romo.
