U2 Concert Reviews
Reviews from Camp Nou in Barcelona (June 30th, 2009)
“U2 kicked off their first tour in three years on Tuesday, rocking a raucous Barcelona crowd of around 90,000 and reaching for the stars with a live link-up to the International Space Station.
Featuring one of the biggest concert stages ever built, the U2 360 Tour will visit 31 cities across Europe and North America and entertain an estimated three million people. More dates are expected to be announced in 2010.
Fans surrounded the circular platform inside Barcelona’s Nou Camp stadium, allowing for a bigger audience and lower average ticket prices during the global recession.
“All around Spain, all around the world, things are difficult. Thank you for coming back to us again and again,” Bono said during the high octane show.
The quartet, one of the world’s most successful acts, opened with “Breathe” from their acclaimed new album “No Line on the Horizon”, and the crowd came to life with the anthem-style “Magnificent” on a hot summer’s night.” - Ben Harding for Reuters
“A giant video screen at the top of the “claw” relayed all the action in precise detail and while the stage didn’t revolve (as had been expected) all band members made extensive use of the walkways which brought them right into the audience. The Space Odyssey feel continued as the band did a live hook-up with the international space station which is currently circling the earth.
Adam Clayton, their bass player, asked the astronauts whether they had seen any UFOs on their travels. …
As the twin encores of With or Without You and a magnificent rendition of Moment Of Surrender brought the night to an end, there was a real sense that U2 had reconnected with their fan base and live audience with a thoughtful, well measured and, let’s not be churlish, exhilarating live show. Prepare to be wowed all over again. ” - Brian Boyd for The Telegraph
U2 Tickets
Reserve U2 tickets for the 2009 U2 360 tour. The Vertigo tour carries a history, or rather a treasure trove of past concerts to offer fans while imprinting its own mark for the current generation. From U2’s early albums of Boy and War, to the MTV days of Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, to the more recent All That You Can’t Leave Behind and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, Vertigo tour, and now the No Line On The Horizon Tour will have something for everybody.
Over the years, U2 has carefully cultivated a unique sound with Bono’s soulful yet challenging vocals backed up by rock-edged guitar riffs born in a post punk scene tied together by the religious and political viewpoints the band still holds to today. This unique essence has stayed with the band, whether in the forefront or accompanying in the background, as they’ve stayed ahead of the curve by reinventing their sound style from the guitar heavy punk, to a techno-laced rock, to a rock and techno infused pop that has carried the band to today. All the while, still holding onto an identifiable sound that lets the listener know it’s U2 as soon as they switch on the radio.
Today U2 continues to revitalize the music scene with their performances, and make no mistake, when you see the band live they’re not simply musicians, they’re performers. With elaborate lighting, video, and stage effects, U2 has enough eye-candy to rivet the audience to their seat and then raise them en masse with a rocking, musical performance. Reserve U2 concert tickets for the Vertigo tour.

Bono comments on the setup for the outdoor stadiums they plan to play:
they’re already planning an innovative setup that will allow for 360-degree seating around the stage, which will be moved closer to the center of the field than in any other stadium show. “It’s an engineering feat that creates this real physical proximity to the crowd,” Bono tells Rolling Stone, adding that the band wants to maximize space in the enormous venues to accommodate the many young fans it has made this decade with hits such as “Vertigo.” “We’re going outdoors to try to meet that audience.
The last thing to be rumored is the name of the tour, some suggest U2 will simply go with No Line on the Horizon Tour but it has been rumored that they will use a song lyric instead of the album name. Perhaps 2009 U2 Let Me in the Sound Tour (or even just “In The Sound Tour”) or the Sexy Boots Tour.
From the U2 Facebook page, the 2009 U2 Tour will be called the U2 360° Tour, dates will be announced at 8am Dublin time on Monday, March 9th.
