South by Southwest has become one of the biggest festivals in the world since it’s humble beginnings. The first ever festival was held in 1992 and featured a highly controversial speech from singer Michelle Shocked. By 2007, SXSW featured over 1,400 musical performers and exploded as one of the most popular music festivals around. 2013 is expected to be another big year for SXSW as rumors that Justin Timberlake will make an appearance.
