Interpol began in 1998 as a group of New York University students looking to put together a band. Interpol released their first album, Turn on the Bright Lights, in August 2002. The album peaked at No. 5 in 2003 on the Top Independent Albums Billboard charts, and was widely critically acclaimed. September 2004 was the release of Interpol’s sophomore album, Antics, which was much more commercially successful than the band’s first record. After touring for 18 months, the band began to work on their third and most recent album, Our Love to Admire. In 2004, Interpol opened for U2 and The Cure.
