2008 American Idol Winner

David Cook is the latest American Idols winner. Winning by the largest vote count in TV history, David Cook rocked his way into the hearts of millions of American females, young and old. He is the cool rocker with high intelligence. Just off of the American Idols Live Tour, he is now featuring his first major solo concert tour, The Declaration Tour, which will be coming this year in 2009! The twenty-five year old Cook won the 7th American Idol title in the largest vote ever counted. Millions upon millions voted for one of their favorite Davids (Archuleta or Cook). But in the end, it was rocker David Cook who won the heart s of America over 17 year-old crooner David Archuleta. Cooks first post-idol album has been released and is produced by Rob Cavallo.

Cook was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Blue Springs, Missouri. He currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He got his first singing gig in the second grade when he performed solo at his school’s Christmas program. There after, he preformed at every Christmas program. He went to Blue Springs South High School and was an avid player in his school’s musical-theater department. He was in The Music man, West Side Story, and Singing in the Rain. He is also the brainiac that his fellow Idol contestants loved—the word nerd. As a member of his schools National Forensic League, he went to the national tournament twice. But music was his passion, and he started a band called Axium.

He received a theater scholarship to the University of Central Missouri and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Graphic Design. After college he relocated to Tulsa to pursue his music career. He gave himself a deadline of the age 26 to attain music success until he would get a “real” job. I think he hit upon success.

As the lead singer and guitarist for Axium, he lead the band to accolades. AMC Theaters picked their song “Hold” to be played as a movie tune in over 20,000 theaters throughout the US. Axium was named in the top 15 independent bands in the country in the “Got Milk” inde-band contest. In 2004 they were named the Best Band in Kansas City.

In 2006 he released his solo project called Analog Heart and created the cover’s design work. Music Equals Life website named it the 4th best CD release of 2006. In 2007 Absolute Best of Tulsa called it the Best Locally Produced and Independent Album. He completed his sophomore album just before winning a spot on American Idol. Analog Heart reached #1 on Today’s Top MP3 album. His much anticipated national début album could very well make or break this intelligent musician. His songwriting abilities and vocal talents have created quite a bit of hype.
