Seattle
Seattle, Washington is one of the most unique cities on the west coast. You will see every landscape from the mountains to the Pacific Ocean. It is a city of music, science and sports. Seattle has a little to offer everyone who comes to the city. It is the 14th largest populated state in the country. The state is named in honor of our first president George Washington. It is the 42nd state and received its statehood on Nov. 11th, 1889, with Seattle being one of its largest cities.
One of the most amazing Seattle attractions is the space needle. Built for the 1962 World Expo, this distinctive structure, rising 600-plus feet above the Seattle Center, has since become Seattle’s most famous landmark. Come take in the 360-degree view of the mountains, Elliot Bay, and Seattle neighborhoods. Stock up on Seattle souvenirs at the ground level gift shop, Space Base. Dine at the unforgettable Sky City rotating restaurant, where every seat has a view. Then afterwards continue upwards to the Observation Deck at the height of the Space Needle to complete your experience.
Now that you have been sky high lets get our feet on the ground at the famous Seattle Waterfront. With numerous fun-but-tacky tourist shops and the Alaskan Way Viaduct thundering overhead, it’s a wonder any natives visit here. But they do because the views are spectacular; the Bainbridge island ferry leaves from Colman Dock; and the popular Summer Nights at the Pier concerts play at sublime Pier 62/63. The Seattle Aquarium and the Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center are also there. The old street cars can be heard clanging down the street and the greens spaces of the Myrtle Edwards Park take over from the concrete jungle at the northern end.
Now for all you music lovers Seattle has one of the most amazing music scenes in the country. It’s supposed to look like a broken guitar but a “heart or a lung” have been used to describe this 140,000 square foot music museum at the Seattle Center. Conceived by Paul Allen and designed by Frank Ghery, the museum takes you through music history by immersing you in nearly 80,000 artifacts including photos, sound archives, costumes and musical instruments from notable artists. The Northwest Passage exhibit examines how musicians and groups from the Northwest, such as Jimi Hendrix, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees and the rest, helped to shape rock music. The onsite Turntable restaurant serves basic grub, and the Liquid Lounge has a full bar and hosts concerts.
So for your next trip to the west coast go “Evergreen”, use GoTickets.com, and visit Seattle to see this city like never before.
