The city of Boston has played a major role in the history and culture of the Unites State. Established in the early 1600 by colonists from England, Boston was one of the earliest permanent settlements on the continent. The city was a focal point of action in the American Revolution, serving as a gathering place for the country’s leaders as well as a pivotal prize in the war itself. Many of the events in that war, such as the Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre, are memorialized with various monuments placed around the city.
In recent years Boston has made a name for itself by being the hometown of some of the most successful sports franchises in history. The New England Patriots have been a force in the NFL over the past few years, winning three Super Bowl Championships between 2002 and 2008. The success of the Patriots makes them one of the most popular NFL teams in the country and tickets to see a game in Gillette Stadium are among the most sought after NFL tickets of all time. But the Patriots aren’t the only team offering tickets in Boston by a long shot. The Boston Celtics have just as long and illustrious a history in the NBA. The Celtics have won 17 NBA titles, the most recent coming in 2008, after a long dry spell. Capping it all off are the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox are another Boston team finding recent success, winning the World Series after almost 100 years of frustration.
Boston offers plenty of events to entertain and enrich its residents and offer visitors a full slate of choices. Besides hosting major sports teams, Boston also offers arts and cultural events in the form of the Boston Opera, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and major Broadway productions in the Cutler Majestic Theater among others. You’ll also find a thriving local musical industry, as the City of Boston breeds its own brand of contemporary musicians reflecting the local culture. The Dropkick Murphys, The Pixies, and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones all planted their roots in the Boston music scene.
