Welcome to the sunshine state. Florida is the 4th largest populated state in the country, with Tampa Bay being one of its largest cities. Florida received its statehood on March 3, 1845. Officially discovered in 1513 by Spanish explorer Ponce De Leon, it’s believed he named it “La Florida” meaning “land of flowers”. However, some believe this land was first discovered in 1947 by the English explorer John Cabot. Nothing about Tampa Bay is typical. For those of you who want a slower paced attraction try the Florida Aquarium. There are many interactive programs like the “Swim with the Fishes” or “Dive with the Sharks” or take a peek behind the scenes with a shark or penguin feeding. This is definitely a show you don’t want to miss.
